Eve Talks New Music, Female Rappers, Lil Kim & Nicki Minaj Beef & More

Rapper Eve has been out of the spot light for several years since her last album "Eve-olution". She's currently prepping the release for her latest effort "Lip Lock" which is set to drop later this year. Before the album comes she plans on dropping a few buzz singles to get things flowing. Then comes the single, then the album.

In the interview with The Woman of Hip-Hop, she talks about her new music and the direction. She shares her thoughts about new rappers Azealia Banks and Iggy Azalea, the five female rappers she would love to record with and she weighs in on the Lil Kim & Nicki Minaj beef. Get into it below.

On her new music: “I’m gonna throw out a viral single at the end of this month before the official single. I’m probably gonna throw out a couple records before the radio single. My whole goal for this record, since it’s been so long, I wanted to make sure that my core audience didn’t feel like Eve completely forgot about us and went to another side. I feel like this record is well rounded. It has enough of the hard street stuff, it has some radio stuff, but it also has some stuff that people can listen to when they’re feeling down.”

On new female rappers: “I like Azealia Banks. I think her style is dope. If you listen to her lyrics, she knows how to wordplay and I think that’s cute. I’m not really into the Iggy Azalea chick. I can’t really fuck with her music, but her look is crazy. I just can’t believe it.”

On her dream collaboration: “Lauryn Hill has always been my one dream collaboration. She to me is so dope lyrically. Unfortunately, she’s just in a place right now mentally, but that would be a dream come true.”

On which five female MCs she would put on a record: “I would definitely have to get Missy [Elliott]. I would definitely have to do Kim ’cause I never got to do a record with Kim. Azealia Banks, I like her. A lot of people want me to hate on Nicki and say crazy things about her. I ain’t got nothing to say about her. Until somebody names me by name, then I don’t feel like nobody [is talking] about me. I wouldn’t have a problem putting her on a record.”

On the Lil’ Kim vs. Nicki Minaj feud: “It’s not about publicity. It’s about wanting that respect. I think maybe that’s where Kim is coming from, like, you’re doing your thing right now and no one can take that away from you, Nicki—we all see it—but at the end of the day, if it wasn’t for Kim, she wouldn’t be here and that shit is real.” SOURCE

It's good to see that Eve is making a comeback. New music from her is expected to drop by the months end. She cold heartily shared her dislikes about Iggy Azalea. She's not feeling her. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I think she should have kept that to herself. We know how people twist and turn words. This could easily be deemed a diss towards Iggy and another beef thing can brew up. In Eve's case, she should be trying to jump on every band wagon that she can because she needs some buzz, she needs a hit and these new rappers that you "don't like" can help you get there. Because they're what's hot and they're in the news....you're not.

As far as her comment on Nicki Minaj and Lil Kim...I just don't see where people are coming from when they say that "respect is due, respect is due". Where the hell have you all been? Nicki has said in countless and countless of interviews, time and time again, over  and over that Lil Kim was one of her biggest influences. Maybe Eve, Lil Kim and a few other missed the memo. Before Nicki was with Young Money, before she sky rocketed to fame. When she was doing her own thing, in night clubs, underground promoting herself, she always paid respected to Lil Kim. She mentioned her every chance she got when they asked her about influences.

That was a few different interviews all combined as one. It's like, what the fuck do yall want her to do, suck Lil Kim's ass crack? Respect was there, it has always been there. But since Lil Kim became a hater and disliked the fact the Nicki Minaj was having success, she wanted to start beef and say no respect was being paid. So in a way, she was right. Nicki stopped paying her respects after she found out the Lil Kim disliked her...and that was shortly before the sky rocket to fame. So in Kim's eyes, Nicki is scoring all of these big time interviews and so much press for this and that, and the name Lil Kim has yet to come out of Nicki's mouth.

Why would it? Bitch, she just found out that you don't like her, so why would she promote someone who dislikes her. When she was under ground and not a big star, she paid respect and it wasn't a problem. But she became a huge star and word got out that Kim disliked her, respect stopped. And it should have. So Eve should get things together, get the fact tags before she speaks on a situation. It's like people want Nicki to be all up in Kim's ass because she's successful. No bitches, Nicki built her own dynasty. Yes, with influences from Lil Kim (which she stated millions of times) but now that she's a biggest female rapper right now, it's a problem in everyone's eyes. Get it together.
